About Rachel and Matt Klein
Matt & Rachel Klein are the proprietors of The Orchid Lodge.
Matt has spent time in Costa Rica as an undergraduate at a field course
studying wildlife conservation and later teaching that very class.
After college he began graduate school for wildlife conservation.
Long-story-short, he has been in school for almost three years working
on a PhD. He recently found that he was no longer enjoying school and
decided now was a good time to take a break to explore other options.
Rachel is a registered nurse specializing in pediatrics. She received her bachelors degree from Rutgers University. While she is an excellent nurse, she has never really enjoyed the work and has been counting her days until retirement since she graduated college. In the midst of everything we began discussing the possibility of opening a Bed and Breakfast in Costa Rica.

We have traveled the world since getting
married, and our greatest challenge has been finding luxurious accommodations while
visiting exotic places. We know there are other people that face this
same challenge. Therefore, we knew that there was a demand for it and
we had always discussed opening an inn as a goal for when we retire.
The more we discussed our idea, the more of a reality the inn became,
as we asked ourselves “what are we waiting for?”
And that’s how The Orchid Lodge was born…
